As per the CBSE directive, teachers and students at Alpine Public School observed Khadi Day on 24th December by flaunting a khadi product with pride and pomp. Students paraded in khadi waistcoats, jackets and traditional attire showing respect for the handloom weavers all across the country who keep alive the spirit of ethnic weave. It was a day when handloom overpowered the power loom and the traditional cotton mainly governed the sartorial taste of all staff members too.
It was a move deeply valued by all, as it kindled admiration and appreciation in students who must be aware of the efforts of the handloom workers and the quintessential legacy of India. The day was marked by discussions on the plight of handloom weavers in classrooms and how the Gandhi’s symbolic “Charkha” will continue to represent India globally.
